Karbi Rong Asar Amei Demands Implementation of Ser Van Kep

Diphu: The Karbi Rong Asar Amei staged a dharna on Monday in front of Semson Sing Ingti Memorial Park to demand immediate implementation of Ser Van Kep, a traditional village council under the Sixth Schedule to the Indian Constitution.

Karbi Rong Asar Amei also opposed the Panchayati Raj system in the Sixth Schedule areas of Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao districts. A procession was taken out from Semson Sing Ingti Memorial Park to the KAAC Secretariat office in which a large number of village headmen and supporters also took part. A memorandum was submitted to KAAC CEM Tuliram Ronghang on Monday.
