GUWAHATI: The Karimganj Police detained 88 kg of Yaba tablets from Nischintapur in the Bagargul neighbourhood of the Karimganj district on January 17 as part of a significant crackdown on the state's illicit drug trade. Undoubtedly the largest drug bust in Assam to date, a team of Karimganj police stopped an Alto with the license plate AS-10A-6487 and removed a sizable quantity of drugs from the car.

In conjunction with the confiscation, police detained Hafiz Uddin, a drug dealer. Following a Naka checking, home guards Anupam Singha and Jasim Uddin were able to confiscate the drugs and notify the police. In the foreign market, the pharmaceuticals are thought to be worth more than Rs 40 crore.

To discover any more connections to the seizure, more research is being conducted. It should be noted that Guwahati city police, as part of a significant crackdown on drug trafficking in the state, confiscated a sizable amount of illegal heroin from a lodge in Dispur on Saturday, January 14.

Based on specific information, a team of police officers led by Joint Commissioner of Police (JCP) Partha Sarathi Mahanta and ADCP Kalyan Pathak raided Barak Lodge and discovered 22 packets of heroin. According to the authorities, the heroin that was found is thought to be worth around Rs. 2.4 crores. One person, Mohammad Noor, was determined to be in possession of the heroin cargo. According to information obtained, the heroin was being smuggled in from Manipur with the goal to sell it throughout the state.
