‘Keep environment plastic-free’

Namrup, June 7: By committing to the current year’s theme ‘Beat Plastic Pollution’, the Assam Petrochemicals Limited celebrated World Environment Day recently with great enthusiasm. A meeting was held as part of the occasion which was graced by Bikul Deka, vice-chairman of APL as the chief guest, while J Buragohain, Assistant Manager (Safety) delivered the welcome address by highlighting the objective of the day. D Bhattacharyya, Gr. GM (Plant and Mktg), APL, lucidly explained the significance of the theme ‘Beat Plastic Pollution’ and urged everyone to avoid single use non-biodegradable plastic items for the protection of the environment.

Besides, Bikul Deka in his speech encouraged everyone to plant trees and also to start a pledge to keep the environment plastic-free by saying ‘No to Plastic’. To mark the occasion, a massive plantation drive with awareness banners and posters was carried out at Children’s Park and its adjoining areas in the APL Township where top officials and employees of APL along with students and teachers of APL High School actively took part. On the other hand, several socio-cultural organizations, educational institutions, NGOs, BVFCL and NTPS observed the day with plantation drives in different locations of Namrup.
