Khumtai MLA Mrinal Saikia Comes Heavily on Govt School Teachers, Says Few Can't Even Write an Application

GUWAHATI: Khumtai Mrinal Saikia BJP MLA today lambasted a section of Assam government school teachers alleging that their attitude towards service is not up to the mark.

On the Assembly floor, he said that after the Assam Agitation of 1979, the teachers' appointment in the government schools had been politicized. And most of the teachers who got appointments before the holding of TET, are reluctant to serve or the students better, he further said.

Earlier, we had seen massive political influence upon the teachers' recruitments. Those who had political influence got recruitment as teachers in the government schools which eroded the reputation of these schools.

Some who were not fit for any other job received appointments as teachers," the MLA said adding that most government school teachers send their children to private schools.

" We have seen that many government school teachers attend their workplace lately and leave the schools early. But they regularly take a salary from the government," the MLA added.

Earlier, BJP's Khumtai constituency MLA Mrinal Saikia said that a section of the people of the State is becoming lazy because of the government welfare schemes provided by the government.

This comes while the BJP MLA claimed that 90 percent of the people do not utilize the funds for the right purpose during the ongoing Assam assembly. Raising the topic Saikia said, "I am happy that our government has given so many schemes to the people, but we need to develop work culture also among our people."

Further, stressing about the Bengal-origin people Saikia said "If a local mason starts a work, he will take more than a month to finish it, while a mason of Bengal-origin will finish the same work in seven days." Moreover, Saikia added "Andolan jeevis are unique to Assam."

In reply to Saikia CM Sarma said, "I agree with your views, as governments schemes are increasing questions are being raised that our culture might be going down. However, the CM claimed the youth of the state are not without the zeal to work."
