Kidnapped youth rescued, three persons arrested in Barpeta

BARPETA: A youth named Habijul Ali (25), son of Bilat Ali of Dhanbandha, was kidnapped from Jatigaon in front of the Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed Medical College and Hospital (FAAMCH) on Friday.

The four kidnappers came in a Swift Dzire (AS 26 A 5415) and took Habijul to a lonely place. Later, they demanded Rs 6 lakh from his family for his release. Bilat Ali, Habijul's father, informed the police and a case was also registered (U/S 364/A/ 04 IPC, no 2151/2020).

According to the order of the Superintendent of Police of Barpeta, Dr Robin Kumar, the search operation team was divided into two. One team led by Munin Das (TSI) and another team was led by Surjya Bora (TSI, probation) and Bakul Ingti (TSI, probation). The search operation team was able to rescue Habijur Ali from Oumura village. The police also nabbed Hidar Ali (Shila) and Khursed Ali (Shila), and Saiful Islam. During the rescue operation, TSI Surjya Bora and kidnapped youth Habijul were both injured by the sharp weapons of the kidnappers. Two kidnappers, however, managed to escape.
