GUWAHATI: Kiran Tamuly Awards for Children's Literary, 2022 for Assamese language formed in memory of Dr. Kiranmoyee Tamuly have been declared recently. The award for original and creative children's book has gone to Sri Jonmoni Das for his book 'Moinahotor Omola Padya'. The award for the category of children literature study was won by Dr. Nayanmoni Barua for her book 'Asomiya Sishu-Sahitya'. Naba Pratim Das has got the 'Illustration Award' for his work in 'Kazirangat Aghatan', 'Moi Hargila' and 'Bagh Aru Manuh' and Puthitirtha Prakashan from Golaghat has been awarded the 'Prakashan Award' for publication of children's books.

The awards shall be handed over to the awardees formally in a function to be held shortly at Jorhat. Dr. Kiranmoyee Tamuly, a physician by profession contributed to Assamese children's literature. Her novel 'Aparajeya' was published by National Book Trust, India which was later translated in Hindi. National Book Trust also published her children's book 'Saha Aru Kasor Dour' in Assamese, Hindi and English. She wrote travelogues 'Themsor Doyopar' and 'America America'. She wrote on health and medical science for children regularly in the children's magazine 'Mouchaq' and 'Natun Awiscar' and later those were compiled in her book 'Jona-Nojana Rogor Katha'. Dr Kiranmoyee Tamuly passed away last year on October 9 and the Kiran Tamuly Trust for children's literature was instituted for inspiring and honouring writers in the arena of children's literature in Assamese language, stated a press release.
