KOKRAJHAR: Kokrajhar MP Naba Kr. Sarania, who is also the president of Gana Suraksha Mancha (GSP), on Wednesday refuted the charges made by Dhanjit Sarania, former commander of BTAD Army.

Sarania said that Dhanjit Sarania claimed to be the commander of the BTAD Army but he had fled from the organization in 2017. He said that Mohidul Islam was the commander of the BTAD Army and not Dhanjit Sarania as he had links with BPF president Hagrama Mohilary and finally joined the Bodoland People's Front (BPF).

"He is living with Hagrama Mohilary and cannot come face-to-face to debate on the issue of alleged illegal arms and ammunition," he said, adding that he could plot to trap him by recovering illegal arms from his house. He also said that if Dhanjit Sarania was questioned regarding illegal arms then a hundred illegal arms could be recovered from him but not from the BTAD Army. He further demanded that all legal arms given to youths in BTC should be seized and if necessary, the government should issue new license for guns to people who needed them.

On the assassination of All Bodoland Minority Students' Union (ABMSU) president Lafiqul Islam, Sarania said they had no idea about the progress of CBI investigation but he would raise the question on the floor of the Parliament. He demanded that the investigation should be faster. He also claimed that if GSP came to power in BTC, he would take appropriate measures to have the case investigated properly.

Dhanjit Sarania, the commander of BTAD Army, formed by Kokrajhar MP Naba Kr. Sarania in 2019, on September 24 alleged that the MP had a large stock of arms and ammunition with him and most of the incidents in Baksa district were carried out by the BTAD Army under his instructions.

In a press meet held at Bathou Complex, Kokrajhar on September 29, Dhanjit Sarania who was looking after four council assembly segments-Salbari, Koklabari, Dihira and Baganpara- left the BTAD Army and joined the BPF. He said he had been working actively with MP Naba Kr. Sarania since 2011 and took the responsibility of commander of BTAD Army. He also reiterated that he was instructed by Naba Kr. Sarania to attack one Jadav Das and unearthed illegal arms from his house. He also said that many 'anti-people' activities were going on to divide the Boros and O Boros. He claimed that he had no intention to work against the people of BTC and to cause communal unrest for which he decided to leave the BTAD Army.

Sarania alleged that MP Naba Kr. Sarania had done nothing good for the people of his constituency but was involved in communal politics. He claimed that out of 20 BTAD Army cadres in Baksa, 18 cadres were with him and many more were willing to return to normal life. He alleged that there was a huge cache of arms, including sophisticated arms like AK-47, AK-56, 9 mm Carbine and M-16 and the MP used these arms to create unrest. He appealed to people and the BTAD Army cadres to stay alert against the 'ill motives' of MP Naba Kr. Sarania.
