KOKRAJHAR: In a landmark initiative of the Government of BTR, the executive council meeting of BTC approved Rs 1 lakh per month to the family of Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma. The meeting was held on Saturday with CEM Pramod Boro in the chair.
Talking to mediapersons on Saturday evening, CEM Boro said that the executive council meeting was held at BTC Secretariat to review and deliberate on key developmental priorities across Bodoland. He said that the EC meeting had a clear focus on inclusive progress and people-first governance and that they were committed to driving impactful change across every sector of BTR.
Boro said that the Government of BTR had approved to provide a sum of Rs 1 lakh every month to the family of Bodofa UN Brahma to honour his legacy of Bodo Movement. He said that the Bodos had witnessed three accords which were the fruits of Bodofa’s democratic mass movement for the Bodos and downtrodden communities. He also said that Bodofa’s statue had been installed in the national capital New Delhi along with the naming of a road Bodofa UN Brahma Marg at their initiatives to honour his untiring efforts for a strong foundation of the Bodos and other backward communities.
He also said that the Government of BTR had also decided to provide Rs 20,000 per month to Bir Chilagang Basumatary Trust for the maintenance of the burial place of BLT’s founder chairman Bir Chilagang Basumatary who also played a key role in the history of Bodoland Movement.
Boro said that the Government of BTR had already launched ‘Bodofa UN Brahma Mission for Sustainable Development ,’ and Bodofa Super-50 + Mission for the aspirants of civil service and medical sector through which the intending students were given coaching at free of cost at reputed institutions in New Delhi and Guwahati.
