Krishi Vigyan Kendra organizes Kisan Mela on Jal Shakti Abhiyan

Haflong: With the aim of creating awareness among the farmers about water conservation and to celebrate the 150th birth anniversary of the Father of Nation, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Dima Hasao organized a Kisan Mela on Jal Shakti Abhiyan, a Jan Andolan on water preservation at Karbi Club, Umrangso on Wednesday.

In this connection, a well-attended meeting was also held wherein MP Horen Sing Bey was present as chief guest and Debolal Gorlosa, NCHAC CEM, MLA BB Hagjer and Samuel Changsang, EM of NCHAC, attended as the guests of honour.

The programme began with offering floral tribute to the portrait of Mahatma Gandhi followed by lighting of lamp by the chief guest, MP Horeng Sing Bey.

CEM Gorlosa in his speech appealed to the people of Dima Hasao to conserve water and assured that he would never allow things to happen in their land if these were against the interests and rights of the indigenous people of the district. Speaking on the occasion, MP Bey explained why water conservation through various means had become a prime need in Dima Hasao and how water conservation had become a Jan Andolan. Earlier, MLA Hagjer also explained the need and importance of water conservation and revival of water bodies, streams and rivers for a better future.
