Lachit Divas observed in Bilasipara
In connection with the celebration of the 400th birth anniversary of the great hero of Assam

BILASIPARA: In connection with the celebration of the 400th birth anniversary of the great hero of Assam, Lachit Barphukan, a statue of Lachit Barphukan along with a park around the statue was set up at Bilasipara in the year 1999 by Dr. Kanulal Das, an eminent social worker of Bilasipara. This year on Thursday, the birth anniversary was observed at the park. Jagadish Brahma, election officer of Bilasipara, garlanded the statue of Lachit Barphukan while Monalisa Das, chairperson of Bilasipara Municipality, lit the ceremonial lamp. Dayal Paul garlanded the portrait of Lachit Barphukan and Abdul Karim Khan lit the ceremonial lamp and offered floral tribute. Dr Kanulal Das delivered the welcome address while Dr Hari Charan Das addressed the gathering as appointed speaker.
