Lakhimpur Congress Commemorates Indira Gandhi on her 35th death anniversary

LAKHIMPUR: The Lakhimpur District Congress Committee (LDCC) commemorated the first woman Prime Minister of India, Indira Gandhi on the occasion of her 35th death anniversary. On this occasion, LDCC organized a commemoration programme at Rajiv Bhawan in association with the Town Block Congress Committee. The programme began with the lighting of lamp and paying of floral tribute to the portrait of Indira Gandhi by LDCC president Dr. Joy Prakash Das. It was followed by a public meeting held under the management of administrative general secretary Pradip Gogoi, wherein LDCC vice-president Gagan Chandra Borah delivered a speech on the life and works of the leader. The ideology of dedication and responsibility towards serving the nation shaped up Indira Gandhi during her childhood. As a result, she became not only a leader of India but of the world also, he said in his speech.
