LAKHIMPUR: Deputy Commissioner of Lakhimpur, Sumit Sattawan and Election Officer Mostafa Salim Ahmed have called upon the new voters of the district to register their names in the Electoral Roll by attending special camps. They made this appeal while addressing a press conference convened at the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner's office on Thursday evening.

In this connection, the Lakhimpur district administration has initiated special drives to facilitate registration of new voters as per Election Commission of India's instructions served with special focus on registration of New Voters (Target Age group-17 to 21 years) and December 8, 2022, being the last day of submission of claims and objections under Special Summary Revision-2023 (SSR- 2023).

Addressing the media persons in the press conference, the Deputy Commissioner said, "The district administration, under the auspices of the District Election Office, has set up special camps for new voter registration at educational institutes of the district, having prospective voters of the target age group mentioned above. These camps are being held across the three LACs under Lakhimpur Election District, that is- Lakhimpur, Naoboicha and Bihpuriya."

Notably, such camps were held at LTK College, Laluk College, Lohit Dikrong HS School and Naoboicha Junior College on Thursday. On the other hand, camps on the occasion will be held at North Lakhimpur College (Autonomous), Lakhimpur Academy HS School on Friday while the same will be held at Lakhimpur Commerce College, Naoboicha HS School, Madhavdev University and Lakhimpur Girls' College on Saturday. The Dhakuakhana subdivisional administration has also organized such camps at different educational institutes under Dhakuakhana LAC for this purpose until December 3. The new voters of the areas concerned can enrol their name in the Electoral Roll by attending these camps with ID proof on the designated days.
