Lakhimpur District Health department quarantined a total 143 returnees

LAKHIMPUR: In the last three days, Lakhimpur District Health department quarantined a total 124 returnees from other States who had been stranded during the ongoing lockdown. Out of them, 43 persons were quarantined on Friday, while 14 persons were quarantined on Saturday and 67 persons on Sunday. With this, a total of 143 persons returning from other States were quarantined in the district in the last four days.

On the other hand, the District Health Department sent a total of 135 swab samples, including the swab samples of the returnees from other States, to the Regional Viral Research and Diagnostic Laboratory, ICMR, RMRC of Dibrugarh district for COVID 19 test in three days. Out of them, 52 swab samples were sent on Friday while 32 swab samples were sent on Saturday and 51 swab samples were sent on Sunday. The result of the tests of a total of 112 swab samples, pending in the ICMR Dibrugarh, were reported to the District Health Department on Sunday. They were reported as negative for coronavirus as per information found from the Health department.

The Community Surveillance Teams, under the District Health Department has continued health screening in the rural areas of the district to detect Severe Acute Respiratory Illness (SARI) patients and Influenza Like Illness (ILI) patients to prevent community transmission of the COVID 19 pandemic. A total of 113 ILI patients were detected in the district till Saturday after scanning of a total of 2116 patients while 1 SARI patient was detected. The Community Surveillance Teams covered a total of 4,25,500 population of 490 villages till Saturday and a total of 701 persons were detected with fever. Rapid Drug Kit (RDK) test for the detection of malaria was conducted on a total of 719 persons. However, no malaria patient was detected in the district till Saturday. On that day, health screening camps were conducted at 76 villages covering 67,985 population wherein 88 persons with fever and 3 ILI patients were detected while no SARI patient was detected.
