LAKHIMPUR: Despite the 18-day containment and total lockdown, the community contagion of COVID-19 pandemic continues in Lakhimpur district.

A total of 230 fresh COVID-19 cases were detected in the district in last two days. Of them, 113 cases were detected on Friday and 117 cases were detected on Saturday.

On Friday, 99 cases were found to be positive for COVID-19 as per Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) while rest 14 cases were detected as per Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RTPCR) Test. On that day, the District Health Department conducted 11,264 RATs in the nine COVID-19 test centers of the district including the Block Primary Health Centers (BPHCs) and private nursing homes and registered 164.20 per cent achievement in conducting the RAT in order to detect COVID-19 patients out of the targeted figure 6860. The RAT cases were reported from North Lakhimpur Urban Hospital (3), Dhalpur BPHC (5), Bihpuriya BPHC (18), Naoboicha BPHC (23), Boginadi BPHC (19), Dhakuakhana BPHC (23), Lakhimpur Medical College and Hospital Respiratory Clinic (8) and Private Nursing Homes (2).

On Saturday, 116 cases were detected as per TAT and one case was detected as per RTPCR Test. The RAT cases were reported from Dhalpur BPHC (7), Bihpuriya BPHC (18), Naoboicha BPHC (54), Boginadi BPHC (4), Dhakuakhana BPHC (22) and Lakhimpur Medical College and Hospital Respiratory Clinic On this day, the District Health Department conducted only 6804 RATs across the district and registered 164.20 per cent achievement in conducting the RAT out of the targeted figure 6860.

With these fresh patients, the cumulative total of COVID-19 cases of the district during the second wave of the pandemic has hiked to 9,816 since April 1 of this year. Out of them, 8926 recovered patients have been discharged from hospitals and home quarantine while 792 have been active cases at present. On Saturday, 65 recovered patients were discharged from institutional isolation while 14 recovered patients were discharged from home isolation.
