Lakhimpur district unit of AYM demands capital punishment to killers of Rituparna Pegu

LAKHIMPUR: Protest erupted in Lakhimpur on Saturday to demand capital punishment for the murderers of Rituparna Pegu. Notably, the youth was mercilessly stabbed and killed at Noonmati in Guwahati after a fight with another person following an argument over a chair. All of this happened in broad daylight.

The activists of the Lakhimpur district unit of Asomiya Yuva Mancha (AYM) took to the streets of North Lakhimpur town demanding trial for Rituparna's murderers in fast track court. In this regard, the protesters staged demonstration by blocking the Lakhimpur-Kamalabari Road from 2 pm. They also demanded capital punishment for the guilty and to compensate the wife of the deceased by giving her a government job. The protesters rocked the environment by shouting slogans in support of the demands.
