Lakhimpur Girl Secures 10th Position In HS Arts Exam

LAKHIMPUR: A student of Genius Academy Junior College of North Lakhimpur town brought laurels to Lakhimpur with her outstanding performance in the Higher Secondary final exam in Arts stream.

Sibani Nath grabbed the 10th position in the toppers’ list. She is the daughter of Rameswar Nath, an employee in Lakhimpur DRDA office, and Maya Gogoi, Gram Sevika in the office of Telahi Development Block. The family resides in Chetia Gaon, Ward No. 5 in North Lakhimpur town. Sibani scored 87 in English, 94 in Political Science, 89 in Sociology, 94 in Logic and Philosophy and 85 in Economics with a grand total of 464 marks. The overall percentage of her marks is 92.80 per cent.

The meritorious student did not follow any routine and studied whenever she could. She likes to study the masterpieces of Sahitya Akademi Award winning writers Birendra Kumar Bhattacharya, Reeta Choudhury and popular writer Anuradha Sarmah Pujari. She likes to listen to songs of Zubin Garg, Shreya Ghosal and watching movies. She told The Sentinel that she would study Economics as major subject in the three-year degree course to pursue advanced studies. Then she will appear for the competitive exams held by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) to become an IAS officer.

Four other students of the college secured highest marks in the State in the HS Arts stream. Rimpy Changmai and Mandeep Baruah secured 98 in Anthropology, Bipasha Borgohain scored 97 in Sociology while Khristabdi Dutta scored 98 in Assamese. Various organizations of the district like AASU, AJYCP, Mamab Adhikar Sangram Samiti, and Hindu Yuva Parishad and many other individuals felicitated Sibani Nath for her success. Managing director of the college, academician Dr Mukunda Rajbonshi said that the college had continued its success by virtue of hard work, culture of talent and perseverance since 2012. Principal Satya Ranjan Goswami expressed satisfaction at the success of his college.
