LAKHIMPUR: “The Narendra Modi-led government is afraid of the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra. The governments at the Centre and in the State have planned to make the Rahul Gandhi’s initiative unsuccessful. After Manipur, the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra is facing hurdles in Assam too. The Congress has not received permission yet to take out the march in several districts,” stated Alka Lamba, the president of All India Mahila Congress, in Lakhimpur on Tuesday.
She said so while interacting with the media persons regarding the ongoing Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra of the Congress. Notably, the president of the All India Mahila Congress, along with Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Bhupen Borah, chief spokesman and several Congress leaders arrived in Lakhimpur to take stock of the preparation regarding party’s rally under the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra to be organized on January 20. In this context Alka Lamba further said, “Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra is a movement being led by the Indian National Congress leader Rahul Gandhi which started on January 14 from Thoubal and will end on March 20 in Mumbai spanning east-west of India. This campaign is aimed for the party’s engagement across the breadth of the country. It is not a political movement, but social movement against economic problems and social disharmony. It has been initiated to fight against injustices such as unemployment, inflation, the rich-poor divide and issues related to farmers under the rule of the incumbent BJP-led government. Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra has prioritized the pursuit of social, economic, and political aspects for the nation’s citizens. The slogan of the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra is “Nyay Ka Haq Milne Tak”; that is- “Until we get our right to justice”
APCC president Bhupen Borah told the media persons that the BJP-led government is hampering the plans of the yatra in Assam. He added that a mega public rally would be organized at Laluk on January 20 in the presence of Rahul Gandhi. “If the permission to hold the rally in any public field is not accorded to us, the same will be held at paddy field. The rally will be held after Rahul Gandhi’s roadshow from Gogamukh of Dhemaji district to Laluk of Lakhimpur district,” Bhupen Borah added.
