Lakhimpur ranks fourth in State with 74.25 % pass percentage in HSLC exam

LAKHIMPUR: Lakhimpur district secured the fourth position in the State in overall pass percentage in the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) examination, results of which were declared by the Board of Secondary Education, Assam (SEBA) on Saturday. The overall pass percentage of the district is 74.25 per cent.

As per information from the office of the Inspector of Schools, a total of 16,336 students appeared in the HSLC exam this year from the district. Of them, a total of 12,130 students were potent enough to clear the exam, paving their way for pursuing advanced education. Out of them, 2,203 students secured first division, 4,418 students achieved second division while 5,509 students got third division. On the other hand, a total of five meritorious students brought laurels to the district by making it to their merit list. They are 3rd rank holder Debisma Priya Borah and 6th rank holder Ranuj Jyoti Baruah of Gyanjyoti Academy of Narayanpur, 7th rank holder Avilasha Dutta of St. Mary's School, 8th rank holder Simran Borah of Brookfield School and 10th rank holder Diwiz Bikash of St. Mary's School.

Notably, there is an outstanding rise in the overall pass percentage of the district this year in comparison to that of the past years. The overall pass percentage of the district in the year 2018 was 66.90 per cent while the same was 68.50 per cent in 2019. On the contrary, this year around 6 per cent more students of the district cleared the exam, increasing the overall pass percentage to 74.25 per cent. Inspector of Schools Mridul Kumar Nath appreciated the students for their zeal to achieve success in their academic life while overcoming multiple barriers.

On the other hand, students of the district also earned success in the Assam High Madrassa (AHM) exam this year. A total of 620 students of the district sat for the AHM exam from the district this year and 468 students passed the exam. The pass percentage was 75.48 per cent. Out of them, 42 students secured first division, 207 students for second division while 219 students passed in third division.
