Lakhimpur: Silpi divas to commemorate multifaceted artiste Rupkonwar Jyoti Prasad Agarwala observed

The Silpi Divas, to commemorate multifaceted artiste Rupkonwar Jyoti Prasad Agarwala and to mark his 73rd death anniversary, was observed by Kadam Sakha Xahitya Xabha under Lakhimpur Jila Xahitya Xabha on Wednesday.

LAKHIMPUR: The Silpi Divas, to commemorate multifaceted artiste Rupkonwar Jyoti Prasad Agarwala and to mark his 73rd death anniversary, was observed by Kadam Sakha Xahitya Xabha under Lakhimpur Jila Xahitya Xabha on Wednesday. In this context, a colourful event was organized under the auspices of the Kuhi Sub-Committee of the literary body at Kadam Balijan LP School premises in association with the school. During the course of the event, competition events were held among the students of various school under the area on Jyoti Sangeet, poem recitation, drawing and creative dance on Jyoti Sangeet.

The agenda of the event began with the lighting of earthen lamp by retired headmistress Aruna Borgohain. The event was chaired by Kadam Sakha Xahitya Xabha president Bharat Rajkhowa, wherein Lakhimpur Jila Xahitya Xabha mouthpiece editor Prasanta Kumar Modak, writer-poet Jiten Baruah, Kuladhar Konwar delivered lecture on life and works of Jyoti Prasad Agarwala and aims and objectives of the Kuhi Sub-Committee under Axam Xahitya Xabha. The programmes of the event were held under the management of Kuhi Sub-Committee convener Manasi Rajkhowa. Kadam Balijan LP School headmistress Kalpana Kutum, Kadam Bagan LP School headmaster Pradip Borgohain, Kadam Gojihula LP School headmaster Pranayjyoti Borah along with a host of prominent persons of the area and office bearers of the Lakhimpur Jila Xahitya Xabha, Kadam Sakha Xahitya Xabha were present in the event.

On the other hand, the Silpi Divas was also observed at Chiyajuli Sankardev Sishu Niketan too. The event was inaugurated with the ‘Vandana’ of the Niketan, performed by the students while teacher Soneswar Dutta lit the ceremonial lamp. Addressing the students, he also delivered lecture on life and contributions of Jyoti Prasad Agarwala. Paying tribute to the multifaceted artiste, the students of the Niketan staged ‘Rupalim’, the evergreen drama writen by Jyoti Prasad Agarwala. A section of students presented Jyoti Sangeet and creative dance items based on Jyoti Sangeet too. Office bearers of the Niketan Management and Development Committee, acharyas of the Niketan, guardians of the students, local public were present in the event.
