LAKHIMPUR: A total of 114 people tested positive for COVID-19 in Lakhimpur on Sunday and Monday. Out of them, 26 patients were found positive on Sunday while 88 patients were detected on Monday.

Of them, 9 patients were detected positive as per real time Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (rRT-PCR) Test result while rest 79 patients were found positive through Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) conducted at various places under the district.

Notably, Lakhimpur Superintendent of Police, Rajveer tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday as per rRT-PCR Test. The result of his swab test was already reported to the District Health Department from Assam Medical College and Hospital, Dibrugarh. In addition to him, Dr. Hemanta Borah and a Grade IV employee named Ranjit Sonowal, who were on duty for a week at the Dedicated COVID Health Centre at Boginadi Model Hospital till Monday, were also detected positive for coronavirus infection through RAT. With these 114 newly-detected patients, the number of total COVID-19 cases in the district has spiked to 2,703. Of them, 1,978 patients have been discharged while 725 are active cases.
