Land allotment certificates distributed at various places in Assam

Tezpur: Member of Parliament, Tezpur HPC, Pallab Lochan Das on Monday distributed land allotment certificates and land pattas among 1,857 beneficiaries of Sonitpur district at a ceremonial function held at the District Library auditorium in Tezpur.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Manvendra Pratap Singh, MLA Borsola Ganesh Limboo, president of Sonitpur Zilla Parishad, Dolly Surin, Circle Officers from various revenue circles, mouzadars, gaon burhas and other senior district administration officials.

Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Manvendra Pratap Singh said the Sonitpur district administration had been taking all-out efforts to give land pattas to nearly 4,000 beneficiaries as directed by the Chief Minister of Assam and gave a detailed overview of the number of beneficiaries under each revenue circle. The Deputy Commissioner announced an ICT-based land allotment monitoring system, e-Pattan, via which landless people would be able to submit online applications through CSCs and PFCs.

Speaking at the function, MP Pallab Lochan Das said the current government under Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal was committed towards preserving the land rights of the landless indigenous people of the State and thanked the State Government for simplifying the process of land allotment to the people. He said similar programmes which had been held all across the State, reiterated the present State Government's commitment to ensure land rights of the indigenous people of the State by allotting land pattas to a total of one lakh people in the State, which will include landless people from all communities including Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Tea and ex-tea tribes.

LAKHIMPUR: The ceremonial programme for the distribution of periodic land pattas and allotment of certificates was held in Lakhimpur at Gojai-Monai Kshetra under Boginadi area on Monday. State Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Naba Kumar Doley was present as chief guest in the programme which was organized by Lakhimpur district administration, Revenue Department and Disaster Management Authority.

Notably, a total of 8,562 landless people under seven Revenue Circles of the district have been selected as the beneficiary of the periodic land pattas. The P&RD minister ceremonially distributed the land pattas to 25 beneficiaries in the programme. In his speech, Naba Kumar Doley highlighted the developmental policies and activities implemented by the Sarbananda Sonowal-led BJP government.

District Development Commissioner-cum-Deputy Commissioner-in charge Manoj Kumar Baruah delivered the welcome address in the ceremonial programme wherein Lakhimpur MLA Utpal Dutta, Bihpuriya MLA Debananda Hazarika and other dignitaries were also present.

The MP also lauded the Deputy Commissioner of Sonitpur for coming up with the innovative software which will ensure complete transparency and ease in the land allotment process, thus building the trust of the common man in the administration and the government.

Jorhat: State Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday said that a large portion of land in Assam was under illegal encroachment and these encroachers had changed the State's demography by posing a threat to the identity of indigenous people in Assam. Participating in a land patta distribution programme held at Pitambor Dev Goswami auditorium here, Sarma said, "It is a very serious issue for us that a large portion of land in our State is under illegal encroachment. These illegal encroachers have changed the demographic pattern in the State which has now become a serious threat to the identity of indigenous people here."

Sarma added, "The illegal encroachment began in Dhubri and Barpeta districts and thereafter expanded to Nagaon. Now it has come to the Kaziranga National Park in Golaghat district. This encroachment is going on even in the xatras. The then rulers had given some land to the xatras for their development, but now most of such lands are under illegal occupation. If one does a comparative study of voters in a constituency in Barpeta district by collecting voter list in 1960 and 2020 then the real fact will come out as to how our identity is in jeopardy."

In his speech as the chief guest, Sarma further said that the government had taken up a step to provide land pattas to 55,000 landless families in the State from Monday. Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal had decided to provide land pattas to one lakh families and the process had begun on Monday. The beneficiaries of this project included the landless families affected by flood and erosion, families whose land was acquired for some government projects but had not been compensated and the people who possessed a particular landed property since the days of their forefathers but did not have land pattas. In Jorhat district about 5,000 such families got land pattas on Monday. Sarma also announced that the work for setting up high school in tea garden areas would begin within 10 days from Monday.

Rangia: Ceremonial distribution of periodic patta, allotment of certificate under Kamrup district was organized by the Revenue and Disaster Management Department, Government of Assam, in collaboration with Kamrup district administration centrally at Haradutta-Biradutta Bhavan, Rangia on Monday along with rest of the State.

Minister Bhabesh Kalita, Minister MLA of Hajo constituency, Suman Haripriya, Deputy Commissioner of Kamrup district, Kailash Karthik N, other officials, all the circle officers and mouzadars of the district were present in the programme. All total 1,473 indigenous landless beneficiaries of the district were distributed patta allotment certificates. In his speech, minister Bhabesh Kalita said that the Sarbananda Sonowal-led State Government had fixed a target to sanction 1 lakh pattas to the indigenous landless people. The government fulfilled their target as on October 5, 1 lakh beneficiaries from 25 districts of the State were rewarded pattas.

Dibrugarh: "Distribution of land patta and sanction letter among a section of indigenous people is a bold step of the State Government towards ensuring the land rights of local people," said Union Food Processing Minister Rameswar Teli while distributing land patta and sanction letters among 2,692 landless beneficiaries of the district at a meeting organized by the district administration and State Disaster Management Department here at India Club and Theatrical Institution on Monday.

Out of 2,692 beneficiaries, land pattas were awarded to 102 and sanction letters to rest 2,590 beneficiaries. Union Minister Teli, after formally handing over land patta to 7 and sanction letters to 14 beneficiaries, in his speech, asserted that the State Government had implemented this programme so that no indigenous people would live in fear and anxiety over their possessed land. Meanwhile, Teli said that 45,000 beneficiaries had already received land patta and sanction letters and programmes had been arranged in several places on Monday to cover another 55,000 beneficiaries under the scheme. "The State Government's ambitious schemes for offering land patta to landless indigenous people living in the State since a long period will continue in the days to come," said Union Minister Teli.
