KOKRAJHAR: As the Government India has assured implementation of most of the vital clauses of BTR accord within a month, the Land and Land Revenue department, BTC, based on specific direction from the Government Assam, has directed the Sidli Circle Officer to seek allotment of 100 bighas of land at Roumari in Chirang district to establish the North East Institute of Medical Science as early as possible. The setting up of the medical institute is part of the clauses of the BTR accord.

Apart from this, the Council of Secondary Education, Government of Assam, has formed a committee to provincialize the schools and colleges of BTC and Bodo medium schools outside BTC. The committee includes the Director of Bodo and other Tribal languages and BTC Principal Secretary.

The Government of Assam has directed the Director of Bodo and other Tribal Languages and BTC Principal Secretary to submit reports and suggestions to provincialize the schools and colleges of BTC area and Bodo medium schools outside BTC. Sources said the government has decided to implement the clause 6 and sub clause 6.3 of BTR accord.

Meanwhile, the Government of Assam has already set up separate Directorate for Bodo medium, provincialized the lone Kokrajhar Music and Fine Art College, Kokrajhar and has announced Boro as associate official language of Assam. The Government of India has also decided to form the Boro Kachari Welfare Autonomous Council (BKWAC) within a month.
