Bongaigaon: Based on specific source information, a joint operation was conducted on Monday by Chirang police led by SDPO Bijni, along with 5th Garhwal Rifles of Indian Army and 54 Bn SSB, in general areas of Gabrukhunda under Panbari PS of Chirang district.

As per police sources, during the operation rigorous search had been carried out and digging was done in multiple places. “During digging, at one place, eight packets were found. The packets contained 9 factory made rifles, 11 country-made rifles, 56 number of 7.62 AK series ammunition, 10 number of 5.56 ammunition, 21 number of 7.62 sniper ammunition, 10 number 7.62 Pika ammunition, 29 number 7.62 CTN , one 333 Nitro, one M 20 ammunition, 5 country-made ammunition, 83 empty cartridges, 15 number of 12 bore empty cartridges, three 7.62 pistol magazines, one .22 pistol magazine, 17 kg explosive, one HYT radio set, one 12 volt battery, 93 feet wire, 10 number suspected lead/iron balks and one extra barrel,” said police sources.
