Large crowd of devotees gather for Chhath Puja celebration in Golaghat

GOLAGHAT: In view of the possibility of mass gathering during Chhath Puja and to prevent spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Golaghat district administration enforced restrictions on celebration of Chhath Puja at the Dhansiri river bank by issuing order and not given permission to organize puja on the river bank.

But on Friday evening, large number of people had gathered on the Dhansiri River bank, thereby defying the district administration's restrictions.

On the other hand, NavYuva Shakti, a leading social organization of Bhojpuri society, requested people to perform Chhath Puja in their residences this year and several families performed the rituals in their homes while following the administration's order. The activists of Nav Yuva Shakti also made arrangements for devotees to worship at Bhojpuri Vivah Bhavan, Alupatti and Har Gauri Vivah Bhavan.
