Laudable step to renovate Barhapjan Sakha Xahitya Xabha Bhavan

DOOMDOOMA: Barhapjan Sakha Xahitya Xabha (BDXX) Bhavan, set up on a plot of land acquired under the initiative of former vice-president of the Axam Xahitya Xabha (AXX) and 'poet of green land', Ram Goswami, was lying in a dilapidated condition due to non-maintenance and lack of proper care by the members.

Of late, the Barhapjan Sakha Xahitya Xabha was reconstituted by forming a new committee with Chawan Dhekial Phukan as president and Baputi Handique as secretary. The new committee, as a part of its initiative to renovate the BSXX Bhavan with a boundary wall around it, organized a meeting on Friday and resolved to open a bank account for necessary transaction. It also resolved to set up a library and organize such literary programmes like 'Akash' for women, 'Ramdhenu' for youths and 'Kuhi' for children, besides taking a resolve to upgrade the status of the branch into a 'Swarna Sakha' by inducting more than 50 life-members.

The members voluntarily came forward to donate for the renovation work. Other socio-cultural organizations too have come forward to join hands with BSXX. ArjunBaruah, president of Tinsukia Zila Xahitya Xabha (TZXX), who also attended the meeting, highly appreciated the exemplary spirit and efforts of the members for such a noble cause.
