Lecture held on Parag Kumar Das' birth anniversary in Morigaon

MORIGAON: On the 62nd birth anniversary of journalist Parag Kumar Das, a lecture on 'Alternative Journalism and Role of News Portals' was organized by the central committee of the Swahid Parag Kumar Das Sowarani Jatiya Shiksha Kendra (SPKDSJSK), Asom at its office at Morigaon on Thursday.
The memorial lecturer programme began with the ceremonial lamp by journalist Ajit Sarma and the president of MDMC, Ratul Deka. Thereafter, the invitees offered floral tribute at the portrait of Parag Kumar Das. Noted journalist Nava Thakuria attended the programme as the chief guest and delivered a speech on the topic. He called upon journalists not to take journalism as a profession but as a social service. Regarding new portals, he said that news portals must fight unitedly for their existence as news portals are not recognized by the government.
Earlier, a felicitation was held which was conducted by the assistant secretary of the organization, Jitumoni Nath .The general secretary of the organization, Bubumoni Goswami delivered the welcome address in the programme.
