DHUBRI: Investing in the making of libraries is best for nation-building. In order to encourage reading, two of the Gandhi fellows of Piramal Foundation, Deepak Shah and Shivam Sonwane joined hands with the block educational authorities of the Agomoni educational block of Dhubri district and initiated a three-day library campaign recently.

The whole idea is to start a functional library in each school of 27 clusters and encourage students to read as well as to increase student-learning outcomes by different other activities such as-story telling, group activities, comprehension writing and story writing.

On the first day the students and the teachers took out all the books from the boxses, placed and categorised them in an accessible area. On the second day, the students were asked to identify reading corners for themselves in the school premises and on the final day the students, teachers and the student representatives prepared class-wise time table for library period by maintaining a register for this.

According to the block elementary educational officer, this campaign not only provided a platform for the students to interact, cross learn and engaged effectively but also motivated the readers to take ownership and create something new.
