KOKRAJHAR: A live mock drill was conducted on Saturday at the Bodoland Administrative Staff College, Kokrajhar, as part of the two-day District-Level Training Program on Incident Response System (IRS) under the aegis of District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Kokrajhar, in collaboration with the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA). The drill simulated a disaster scenario to evaluate the preparedness and coordination of district emergency response teams. The programme aimed to provide participants with hands-on experience in managing real-life emergencies in a controlled environment.

Earlier in the day, a Tabletop Exercise (TTEx) was held, where facilitators guided participants on procedures, plans, and policies for disaster management, with a focus on mitigating stress during emergencies. The session emphasized understanding rules, responsibilities, and protocols, particularly for earthquake scenarios. Participants from various line departments were encouraged to contemplate and discuss ways to deal with potential disasters.

Addressing the debriefing session, ADC Kabita Deka commended the enthusiastic participation and highlighted the importance of mental health in disaster management. She suggested integrating meditation sessions into future training programmes for a holistic approach to emergency preparedness.

The training programme was graced by key dignitaries, including ADC Jituraj Gogoi, Dr. Kripal Jyoti Mazumder, Program Officer (DM), ASDMA, Guwahati. Representatives from departments such as Land Revenue & Disaster Management, Health & Family Welfare, Fire & Emergency Services, CISF, and APRO actively participated in the event, showcasing their commitment to enhancing disaster response capabilities.
