GUWAHATI: Ahead of the Prime Minister's visit to Assam, preparations are in full swing in locations of the Dibrugarh and Karbi Anglong districts.

In a recent update, the Governor of Assam has announced 28 April as a local holiday within the jurisdiction of Assam's Karbi Anglong and Dibrugarh districts.

Notably, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit the aforementioned districts on Thursday 28 April 2022.

In this regard, the General Administration Department released a notification mentioning what will remain close on the day of the PM's visit to two districts of Assam.

As per the notification, on Thursday 28 April all educational institutions and all state government offices that fall in the districts of Dibrugarh and Karbi Anglong will remain closed.

The prime minister during his visit will attend the inauguration ceremony of seven newly constructed cancer hospitals in Dibrugarh and also lay the foundation stone for another 7 cancer hospitals in Assam.

Meanwhile, all concerned officials and ministers are making efforts for the grand success of the events that are organized in Dibrugarh and Karbi Anglong.

The ministers and officials have been continuously working since the last few days to ensure proper management in all sectors during the PM's visit.

On Monday 25 April, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma visited the Khanikar field in Dibrugarh town to review the ongoing preparations for the proposed events on 28 April.

While addressing the media, CM Sarma said that final preparation is still underway for PM's visit and the party workers are working hard to turn it into a successful programme.

He also informed that the new cancer hospital that will be inaugurated by PM Modi will be the most advanced cancer hospital in the entire northeast with modern technology.

During his visit to Karbi Anglong on Thursday, the prime minister will hold a 'unity, peace and development' rally in Loringthepi.
