Lot Mandal Arrested While Accepting Bribe

NAGAON: Sleuths of the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Directorate, Guwahati arrested one lot mandal, identified as Ranjit Mahanta, at Nagaon Circle Office campus on Friday while accepting bribe from a complainant for registration of a piece of land.

Sources claimed that the arrested lot mandal, who was posted at Nagaon Mahrul and Pathori revenue village area, demanded thousands of rupees as bribe from a person for registration of a piece of land. Meanwhile the person approached the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Directorate, Guwahati and lodged a complaint in this regard.Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Directorate sleuths laid a trap to catch the lot mandal on Friday and were successful in catching the lot mandalred-handed. Ranjit Mahanta was later brought to the Guwahati headquarters of the Directorate for further investigation as well as further proceedings, sources said.
