LAKHIMPUR: "Constitution of a government with nationalistic fervour in Assam is hundred per cent confirm as per the verdict of the upcoming State Assembly poll. Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal is governing the State following the dictates of the Union Government. Nobody can ignore the sentiments and prestige of the State and the Assamese community. Five mothers lost their sons during the anti-Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) agitation. The sacrifice of the martyrs will not go in vain. The ruling party has sponsored communal politics in the State," asserted Lurinjyoti Gogoi, the president of Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP), while addressing a public rally, titled as Jana Jagaran Sabha, in Lakhimpur on Monday.

The event was organized by the Lakhimpur district unit of AJP at Tyag Kshetra of North Lakhimpur town. It commenced with Dayananda Saikia, the president of Lakhimpur district unit of AJP, in the chair. Lurin Jyoti Gogoi further criticized the BJP in strong terms for the U-turn on the part of the party and Prime Minister Narendra Modi in connection with several crucial issues.

"Just before the assembly poll in 2016, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had promised that the illegal migrants would be extradited from the State. But the Prime Minister has attempted to turn Assam into a hub for foreigners while forgetting his poll promises. His government has failed comprehensively with regard to sealing the Indo-Bangla border and resolving the illegal foreigners' issue. The Prime Minister makes a lot of promises while visiting Assam frequently. But why does he not show his goodwill to declare the perennial flood and erosion problem of Assam as national problem? Why do the Prime Minister and his government take a U-turn from the big river dam issue by favouring the corporate sector and ignoring the security of the life and property of the common people? Why did his government push the farmers' community to an uncertain future by amending the agriculture acts?" the AJP president asserted. He appealed to the people to root out the BJP in the upcoming assembly poll.

He further criticized the State Government for its failure to control the sky-rocketing prices of the petro-products and other essential commodities, allegedly patronizing various syndicates and vote bank politics. In addition to him, AJP secretary Chitta Ranjan Basumatari, organizing secretary Krishna Das, other central committee dignitaries delivered speech in the event. Notably, Lurin Jyoti Gogoi was escorted by a large bike rally from Kadam area to Tyag Kshetra of North Lakhimpur town.
