RANGIA: Hajo Police, led by Kankan Kumar Nath SDPO Rangia and Bhaskar Barman OC Hajo arrested two suspected murderers, namely Faijul Haque and Usuddin Ahmed of Borombay village, under Hajo PS in Kamrup district last night.

According to SDPO Kankan Kr Nath, the two accused, along with other three youths allegedly lynched Sanatan Deka of No 3 Manahkuchi, who was selling vegetables on the footpath on May 24 when his cycle collided with the scooty of Faijul Haque. On getting prior information, Hajo Police rushed to the spot and recovered the body.

Operation is on to nab the culprits, police said. Many organizations, like the front-ranking students' organization of Assam, the AASU, and Gariya Mariya Yuba Chhatra Parishad condemned the brutal murder of Sanatan Deka and requested the police to nab all the culprits at the earliest. WhatsApp forwards of the tragic incident must have led to a lot of chaos in and around Hajo. When Assam has not been able to gulp down its throat the similar sad and immensely tragic death of 2 poor young souls, one of them budding with immense talent, another incident of mob lynching throws the already exploited State into dire moment of crisis, not to say how the pandemic and the usual, once in a year occurrence of floods have been adding to the neglected and exploited State of this country perhaps since decades. But the bhumiputra CM Sarbananda Sonowal took note of the pain and suffering of the bereaved's family and added a human touch to the entire incident by extending help of Rs 2 lakh.
