Madhavdeva University, Lakhimpur Faculties along with employees & students oppose CAA

LAKHIMPUR: The faculties, employees and students of Madhavdeva University (MU) located at Narayanpur of Lakhimpur district strongly opposed the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA), 2019.

In this regard, a three-hour long sit-in was initiated by the faculty unit on Monday at the main gate of the Madhavdeva university. The employees and the students of the university took part in the stir wherein the people of the adjacent area were also present. By initiating the agitation programme, the faculty, employees and the students of the university demanded the scrapping of the Act. Taking part in the protest programme, Faculty Unit president Makhan Tamuli, secretary Dr. Mahendra Hazarika, Political Science professor Parash Goswami, associate professors Jogen Saikia, Shyamanta Hazarika and advocate Deepak Deori explained the demerits of the Act.

Retired Principal of Madhavdeva Collegiate HS School, Kumud Dutta recited poetry opposing the CAA while professors Dr. Geetali Bhuyan and Partha Pratim Borah and student Dristi Rani Das presented revolutionary song for the same.
