Magh Bihu was celebrated in Demow and its surrounding areas with pomp and gaiety on January 14 and January 15.

DEMOW: Magh Bihu was celebrated in Demow and its surrounding areas with pomp and gaiety on January 14 and January 15. On January 14, people thronged to the markets to buy fish, meat along with other essential items required for the community feast. The Mejis were burnt on the morning of January 15. Under the patronage of Nabil Nabajyoti Yuba Sangha in association with the local people, the Maghi Utsav was organized in Nabil Napathar Harimandir premises on January 15 and January 16. A three-storey Bhela Ghar was prepared for Bhogali Bihu in Nabil Napathar Harimandir premises where people from various places gathered there to look it and took selfie in front of the Bhela Ghar. Different competitions and cultural programmes were organized on January 15. The invited artists performed in the cultural programme. Under the patronage of ATTSA Demow Branch, ATTWA, Demow Regional, ATTSA, Athabari Sub-branch, Deroi Primary Unit, ACMS, Deroi Branch Unit in association with the labourers, the 24th Tusu Sanmillan was organized in Deroi Puja Ghar premises on January 15 with different programmes. The traditional mela was held on January 15. People visited the traditional mela in Demow Dehajan on January 15.
