Main accused in Darangamela murder arrested by Tamulpur police

BAKSA: Tamulpur police have managed to nab the main accused of the gruesome murder that took place on the night of October 9 at Sashipur village under Darangamela police outpost along the Indo-Bhutan border in Baksa district where a man named Gosai Biswas was strangled to death and his body was found near his houseby local people the next morning.

An investigation was started, led by Tamulpur Subdivision Police Officer Rupjyoti Kalita. Tamulpur Subdivision Police Officer Rupjyoti Kalita, along with in-charge of Kumarikata Police Outpost, Neelabhjyoti Nath and in-charge of Darangamela Police Outpost, Gopal Doley raided Angarakata Hajongbosti at Kumarikata on Monday night and arrested 45-year-old Jagbandhu Mondal, the main accused of the murder.

Police later arrested the deceased Gosai Biswas' wife Himani Biswas on the basis of Jagbandhu Mandal's statement. According to police, the house of Gosai Biswas was in Mayong in Nagaon district and he had been living with his family in Sashipur village along the Indo-Bhutan border where he had his own business. The police team also recovered the sharp weapon used in the murder. Locals suspect that the murder took place as a consequence of a love affair. Jagbandhu and Himani Biswas were sent to jail after they were produced before the court of the judicial magistrate in Baksa district on Tuesday.
