Main accused in gang rape incident arrested in Baksa district

Baksa: The main accused in the gang rape at Nagrijuli under Baksa district, Tainur Ali has been arrested by Baksa Police from Bilasipara under Dhubri district. He had fled from Nagrijuli on the night of December 21.

A case had been registered at Tamulpur PS Case No-663/20 u/s-376(2)(n)/34 IPC R/W sec 6 of POCSO Act. Tainur Ali was the main accused and mastermind of the gang rape incident of Nagrijuli Tea Garden which took place on the night of December 21. A 13-year old minor girl was raped on the night of December 21 while she was returning from a local Kali Puja. A gang of four youths raped her and left her behind a canal near Nagrijuli Tea Garden. Kailash Malakar, in-charge of Nagrijuli Police Outpost, said, "On the basis of secret information, we conducted an operation on the night of January 3 at Bilasipara town and were able to nab Tainur Ali who was the main accused. He was taken back to Tamulpur Police Station on January 4 and after interrogation, Tainur was produced in front of the Judicial Magistrate and sent to judicial custody."
