JORHAT: Malakshmi Borthakur, one of the distinguished writers of India, has been honoured by Motivational Strips and Gujarat Sahitya Akademi (under the State Government of Gujarat). She has made it to the list of 350 writers from 80 countries across the world. The honour was conferred on Malakshmi as a part of the literary programme conducted by these two literary entities on the occasion of India's 74th Independence Day celebration.

Motivational Strips is the world's most active writers' forum with presence of writers from 163 countries across the world. In a historic move, this globally valued literary forum and the Gujarat Sahitya Akademi had come together to felicitate global litterateurs and writers.

Motivational Strips' founder and president, Shiju H Pallithazheth applauded India's efforts in marking a presence in global literary circle. The chairman of Gujarat Sahitya Akademi, Padma Shri Dr. Vishnu Pandya stated that this collaboration would remain historic in global literature.

Malakshmi Borthakur is a specialist in multilingual poetry and writes most of her poems in English, Hindi and her mother tongue, Assamese. Apart from poetry, she has proven her mettle in short story writing and translations also. Malakshmi Borthakur has accumulated many international honours such as the World Award For Literary Excellence, 2019-20 from the Government of Peru and the Altyn Kalam (the Golden Pen) award from World Nations Writers Union, Kazakhstan.

A gold categorized member in Motivational Strips and a globally acclaimed writer, Malakshmi Bothakur belongs from Assam and resides in Lucknow city. She is the wife of renowned vocalist Dr. Biju Kumar Bhagawati, daughter- in-law of Tuni Bhagawati of Sivasagar and daughter of eminent academician, Sarat Chandra Borthakur and Dipali Borthakur of Tarajan, Jorhat.
