Man choked his wife to death in Kakopathar, Later commits suicide

Kakopathar: A man allegedly killed his wife by choking her neck under the influence of alcohol and later committed suicide at No. 2 Kumsung Tea Estate under Kakopathar Police Station.

Local people while speaking to media claimed that the couple was running through a bad phase of life. Sources also informed that every night, husband Biswajit Patar use to physically assault his wife under the influence of alcohol.

Notably, reports also state that Biswajit had killed his previous wife with a sharp machete under the influence of alcohol.

Meanwhile, police had sent both the bodies to Tinsukia Civil Hospital for post mortem.

Biswanath Police have cracked a sensational murder incident of September 5 within 24 hours, the team also arrested the prime accused in connection to the murder incident.

The arrested accused identified as Binod Narzary (33), reported to be maternal uncle of deceased Purnima Narzary has been arrested for killing his own niece for Rs 20,000 on Wednesday evening.

Later, her body was recovered at railway line near Haidabari’s Shiyalmari village under Biswanath District. Purnima Narzary was a resident of Balichang’s Chamduli near Assam- Arunachal Pradesh border.

Police earlier during the preliminary investigation recovered a mobile phone from her possession and accordingly, they contacted the family members of the deceased Purnima. Upon verification, police came to know that the lady was missing since September 2 after she boarded a train from Gohpur.

It is noteworthy that deceased Purnima Narzary was returning back home from Gohpur via train on September 2, 2019, after collecting a cash amount of Rs 20,000 from her father who is presently posted at Arunachal Pradesh.

Interestingly, on the very next day accused Binod Narzary visited the Biswanath Police station and also complaint that Purnima’s parents were involved in the murder incident.

However, the police under suspicion questioned Binod on Friday evening, on the other hand, police also spotted some scratches and light wounds on his neck which led them to interrogate him further.

Binod later confessed his crime to the police, thus narrating the entire incident.

During his confession, accused Binod informed that he went to receive his niece from the railway station after she reached Biswanath from Gohpur on a bicycle. Later, she was choked to death in the middle of the road near Mora Pukhuri.

Accused also tried to take away the amount of Rs 20,000 which she brought from her father in Arunachal Pradesh, but, failed to do so, as the girl managed to throw away the cash amount in the pond.
