Man Jailed for Kidnapping 14-Year-Old Girl

MANKACHAR: Following the complaints filed by the father of the girl, police were finally able to apprehend the man for allegedly kidnapping and marrying an adolescent about two years ago.

The father of the victim mentioned that the 14-year-old gild was kidnapped from the neighbouring state. They belong to the Helediganj locality of the West Garo Hills district of the state of Meghalaya. The accusation for the crime was placed on one youth named Saidul Islam and the father had registered a complaint of abduction of his daughter in the Helediganj police station of the state about two years back.

According to the father, the accused kept himself and his daughter in hiding since the incident and the police were not able to find the culprit. But the victim was able to inform her parents somehow that she was being kept in the Khupatiya village. Following this the family lodged another complaint in the Sukhsor Police Station.

Based on the complaint, the police launched an operation, that led to the capture of the accused and the rescue of the victim. The accused was identified as the son of one Abdul Samad. Police later presented him in the Court which sent him for judicial custody.

Meanwhile, Assam Police have arrested a 20-year-old man on the charges of sexual assault on a 16 years old girl and shared videos regarding the same from Rangiya in Assam. The accused, identified as twenty years old Amrit Das had reportedly raped the 16-year-old girl when no one was at home. He also recorded his inhumane actions using the camera on his mobile phone, which he later shared online. The incident reportedly took place in the Tulasibari locality of Rangiya and triggered anger among the locals after the incident came to light. A case was registered under The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act at the Tulasibari Outpost following the complaint from the victim.
