DEMOW: A man named Bhula Praja and his wife Ramani Praja were killed on Thursday night at Demow Dekhari allegedly by one Jaggu Praja. The incident led to the killing of Jaggu’s brother the next morning.
According to sources, on the night of Mahanavami Puja in Dekhari Tea Estate (7 No Line), Bhula Praja and his wife Ramani Puja were allegedly hit with a machete and killed by Jaggu who fled the scene soon after. The irate local people were on the lookout for Jaggu Praja after the incident. When they failed to find him, the mob destroyed Jaggu’s House and bi-cycle. The Moran police immediately ruched to the area and tried to control the situation. People from the district administration reached the area on Thursday night itself and took stock of the situation there. The body of Bhula Praja and Ramani Praja were taken to Moran Police Station.
On Friday morning Jaggu Praja’s mother, who was hiding in the field, was also badly assaulted by the mob. She is stated to be in a critical condition. Around 7 am on Friday the mob caught Jaggu’s brother and assaulted him too, and that allegeldly led to his death. The police rushed to the area and recovered the body of the brother of Jaggu Praja. Jaggu Praja was arrested by Moran Police from Moran Tikrai Miripathar on Friday afternoon around 12 noon. Family clash is seemed to be the reason behind the killing.
