Man Kills Self After Testing Positive for COVID-19 in Sarupathar

SARUPATHAR: A man allegedly committed suicide after testing positive for COVID-19 in Sarupathar on Saturday. The deceased has been identified as Paniram Kurmi, resident of Kardoiguri in Dhansiri Subdivision under the Golaghat district.

Kurmi developed COVID-19 symptoms two days ago when his family took him for the test. Later his family put him in isolation in a room inside the house and took all possible care of him. On Saturday, his family found him dead; he had hanged himself from a tree near his house.

Meanwhile, the relatives said Kurmi might have felt frustrated for testing positive for the disease and killed himself. Later the police went to the spot and sent the deceased to Golaghat for postmortem.
