Man strangles wife to death in Udalguri district

TANGLA: In a gruesome incident, a man in his early thirties allegedly hacked his wife to death and later buried the body in his residence campus at Bogpuri village under Tangla PS in Udalguri district. The incident reportedly occurred 12 days ago and following the incident the husband reported his wife's disappearance and continued to search for her along with villagers. Later, the husband reportedly surrendered before Khoirabari P.S.
According to reports, the incident occurred on January 7 where the accused, Manoranjan aka Gala Narzary allegedly strangled his wife identified as Anisha Basumatary and later buried her body behind their residence. Reportedly, the villagers, the victim's family members and representatives of All Bodo Students' Union (ABSU) lodged a missing report with Tangla police on January 18 following which the accused surrendered on Thursday. The locals informed that the victim an inhabitant of Serfanguri of Kokrajhar district was married with the accused for five years. The Tangla Police on Thursday retrieved the semi-decomposed body and sent it for post-mortem and have arrested the accused husband after registering a case under relevant sections of IPC.
