SILCHAR: President of India Draupadi Murmu, who is on a 3-day visit to Assam is staying at the guest house since Thursday night at the Assam Police guest house constructed at Kohora in Kaziranga in Golaghat district. On the occasion, apart from decorating the guest house, the entire area has been wrapped in a security blanket.

Incidentally, the state-of-the-art facilities is under the direct supervision of Manbendra Deb Ray, then Superintendent of Police, Golaghat district of Assam and now Director of Information & Public Relations,Assam. It’s worthy to mention that the guest house was built in year 2018-19.

The state government, ONGC and Numligarh Refinery Limited jointly contributed towards allocation of the funds for the construction of the state police guest house.

Financial help has also been taken from the people. Still, it would not be an exaggeration to say that DIPR Assam, Manbendra Dev Ray played the pivotal role towards the construction of this guest house. This beautiful building was originally built according to his design. The six-room guest house has a well-decorated flower garden. From the exterior to the interior, everything has a touch of taste and it was only possible to build such a beautiful guest house in Kaziranga due to the relentless efforts and initiative taken by Manbendra Dev Ray. During his tenure as Police Superintendent in Golaghat district, Dev Ray worked day and night to build this guest house. According to police sources, Golaghat is the second such advanced police guest house in the entire state.

The then police Superintendent and now the Director of Information and Public Relations public department Manbendra Dev Ray’s hard work paid off. In 2022, the then President Ram Nath Kovind spent the night in this guest house. After a few months, President Draupadi Murmu is spending the night at this guest house.

Various quarters for his rare achievement and devotion to duty as a Police Superintendent Manvendra Dev Ray is being praised by all sections of society. Many have expressed hope that the image of the PR department will become more brighter during his tenure.

Meanwhile, DIPR Manbendra Dev Ray, on the occasion of the reception, said, “It is a matter of great pride for the Assam Police that the President of India is visiting the Police Guest House at Kohora and spending the night there for the second time in less than two years.” He mentioned that the police guest house was constructed at Kohora during his tenure as SP of Golaghat. “I am personally delighted and proud to be involved in the planning and construction of this guest house,” added Dev Ray. He sincerely thanked all those who supported the work and cooperated in the effort, stated a press release.
