GUWAHATI: Yet another incidence of violence on the night of Monday raised questions regarding the safety conditions of the public in Guwahati city.

The violent incident took place on the night of April 10 when the manager of a popular eatery of the city was attacked by two bike-borne miscreants. He was shifted to the Gauhati Medical College Hospital.

The victim was identified as one Bhaskar Jyoti Das. He works as the manager of the Starbucks outlet located in Christian Basti of Guwahati. He was about to start his two-wheeler to go home after closing the outlet for the day when he was attacked. Two unidentified miscreants aboard a two-wheeler reportedly attacked him with a sharp weapon before any action could be taken.

Reports suggest that the attackers were drunk when they committed the crime and they fled the location immediately after that. The bystanders who noticed the incident shifted him to the Gauhati Medical College with severe cuts. He was later shifted to the Apollo Hospital in Guwahati.

Previously Hatigaon police, in an operation to search illegal gold biscuits, finally happened to recover a stock of heroin. On the basis of the information, Hatigaon police conducted a search in five rented houses at Namghar Path, Hatigaon. During the search operation, the landlords could not furnish any details of their tenants. And during the checking of the rented houses, one tenant introduced himself as Babu, but he couldn’t show documents of his identity. The said person i.e. Babu was staying with his partner in the rented house. Babu informed that his documents were in his car parked downstairs. Then, he was asked to go downstairs and bring the documents, but he took advantage of the darkness and fled. Later, the police searched the rented room, and during the search, they recovered 69 soap cases filled with suspected heroin, cash worth Rs 7,56,680, four mobile phones, three keys of cars and one vehicle.
