LAKHIMPUR: As a step towards intellectual revolution, Mangalbodh Jagaran Kendra of Lakhimpur will organize a book fair from March 11 to March 15. The five-day-long event titled Mangalmoy Grantha Utsav- 2020 (Mangalmoy Book Festival-2020) will be held at North Lakhimpur Boys’ Government HS School hostel premises with a view to lay emphasis on the importance of reading books.

Notably, Mangalbodh Jagaran Kendra, the social institution of Lakhimpur district which is dedicated for the service of humanity, nature, language and culture, education and health, has continued a series of encouraging programmes titled ‘Kitapar Pakhi Pindhu Aha’ to inculcate the habit of reading books among the students under its ‘Mangalmoy Xahitya Yatra’ initiative. The institution, from October 19, 2019, took up an attempt to shape Lahon Gaon near North Lakhimpur town as Grantha Gaon (A Village with Books). The institution will organize the book fair in order to add a new dimension to these initiatives.

In connection with the book fair, the institution and the book fair organizing committee will hold various academic, cultural and allied programmes during the five days. The agenda of the first day on March 11 will kick off with unfurling of flag by organizing committee president Uday Sankar Hazarika and the whole event will be inaugurated by Lakhimpur Deputy Commissioner Dr. Jeevan B. On that day, Mangalmoy Pragyajyoti Awards distribution ceremony, interactive session on ‘Joy of reading books’, souvenir Grantha Baibhav’s release programme and cultural programme will be held.

The second day agenda of the event will start with quiz competition, poetry recitation, drawing and essay writing competition among the students. It will be followed by a symposium on ‘The future of book in the world of science and technology and roles of the students’, Mangalbodh Jagaran Kendra Award distribution ceremony and another symposium on ‘The search of the pleasure and grace of life amidst the aesthetic beauty of books’.

On the third day, a special programme for the senior citizens will be organized and it will be followed by a symposium on ‘The laws and justice for the common people’, book release programme and special programme for the women community. On the other hand, the fourth day agenda is framed with a career-related symposium on ‘Selection of career and the future of the students’. Then the Xahityajyoti and Katha Baibhab Awards distribution ceremony of Natun Sur Prakashan Parishad will be held. On that day in the evening, a documentary Jivanar Rang Bichari on the life and agonies of cerebral palsy patients, produced by Mangalbodh Jagaran Kendra, will be screened.

On the concluding day, poets’ meet and interactive session will be held. A special programme for the children with story-telling, recitation and other events will be held and it will be followed by the open session on the topic ‘Book fair for upcoming generation and its importance’. Then the concluding ceremony will be held.

The students of Lakhimpur under Rastiya Madhyamik Siksha Abhiyan (RMSA) and Samagra Siksha Abhiyan will take part in the events of the book fair as a part of their Gyan Yatra programme.
