MANGALDAI: In view of the sudden crisis of the sanitizers in the market, Chemistry department of Mangaldai College has come forward with a unique benevolent idea to supply locally made highly effective sanitizers at a subsidized rate. Talking to The Sentinel this afternoon, Principal of Mangaldai College Dr. Khagendra Kumar Nath informed that the teachers and students of the Chemistry department have prepared the sanitizers using alcohol. Though the production cost of the sanitizers including the container is Rs. 74.00 per 100 ml, the college has been offering it at a subsidized rate of Rs. 50.

Significantly, the branded sanitizer at present is available at Rs, 220.00. “We have the capacity of preparing 500 bottles of sanitizers in 100 ml. But the container is not available here in the local market for which we have to purchase the containers at a high rate. Yet we are determined to continue our effort to provide the sanitizers to the people at the subsidized rate at this hour of crisis,” said Principal Dr. Khagendra Kumar Nath. He also said that the Mangaldai College family besides preparation of the sanitizers would take part in creating awareness on precautionary measures. On the other hand, in view of the gravity of the alarming situation, the State government has instructed the Drugs Inspectors not to insist the college and academic institutions for the required license.
