Mangaldai Police arrested five cow lifters

MANGALDAI: A notorious gang of cow lifters has been arrested recently in Mangaldai. An Ertiga vehicle of Maruti has been used in cow lifting. A team of Mangaldai Police on January 23 intercepted the Ertiga bearing no AS 01 LC 2380.

The cow lifters on seeing the police tried to escape abandoning the vehicle. The police arrested five notorious criminals and recovered three stolen cows from the vehicle. The arrested criminals have been identified as Kusum Ali, Nazmul Ali, Rinku Ali, Khaila Ali and Jalil Ali. All of them were from Hajo area in Kamrup (Rural) district. All the accused have reportedly confessed their involvement in lifting more than 40 cattle from different location of the district. The recovered three cows were stolen from Mangaldai and Dhula areas of the district. Police have also recovered a large size steel cutter appliance from their possession which has been believed to be used in breaking ATMs. Town Branch in charge Sub Inspector Latuk Das and Sub Inspector Dantejit Deuri led the operation.
