Mangaldai Police seized 30 kg Ganja worth Rs 1.50 lakh

MANGALDAI: Mangaldai Police on Friday night intercepted a Bolero pick-up van and recovered about 30 kg of contraband cannabis or ganja worth about Rs. 1.50 lakh from the van.

The police seized the van bearing registration number AS 01 HC 8324 owned by one Ajed Rahman of Narengi in Guwahati and arrested two persons in this connection. The smugglers had concealed the seized ganja in a specially constructed hidden chamber on the rear panel of the van. The arrested persons have been identified as Khairul Islam and Rijabul Hoque of village Kobaikata under Bordowa Police Station in Nagaon district.

As per the instruction of Superintendent of Police Amrit Bhuyan, Officer in-charge of Mangaldai Police Station, Inspector Dino Bondhu Bhuyan and in-charge of Town Branch, Hrishikesh Barman conducted the operation. The police have registered a case under the provision of NDPS Act.
