Margherita rape and murder: Rapist Anan Tati’s wife Ganga Tati arrested

Following the arrest of the prime accused Anan Tati in the Margherita rape and murder case of a minor girl and the subsequent police encounter while fleeing the police custody on Thursday evening, the Margherita police has also arrested the wife of the rapist Ganga Tati alias Mini with sufficient grounds for arrest.

DIGBOI : Following the arrest of the prime accused Anan Tati in the Margherita rape and murder case of a minor girl and the subsequent police encounter while fleeing the police custody on Thursday evening, the Margherita police has also arrested the wife of the rapist Ganga Tati alias Mini with sufficient grounds for arrest.

According to the SDPO Margherita, who was addressing the media on Friday afternoon, Mini’s statements were intended to mislead the police and was also accused of concealing the evidence despite having full knowledge of the gruesome and inhuman act of raping, murdering and disposing of the corpse in a septic tank nearby.

“The police on Thursday evening arrested the rapist from Namsang Tea Garden area in Dibrugarh district close to Arunachal’s Tirap district. The accused had tried to escape our custody at which the police had to resort to two rounds of controlled firing to prevent the escape,” the official said adding, “The eldest son of the accused was also at large.

Partially denying the possibility of gang-rape, the official said that the investigation was on connecting all possible dots and more accomplices if found involved would be netted soon.

It is pertinent to add here that the accused who was a caretaker of a building was living in a kaccha house. The building partitioned in several rooms were let on rental basis occupied by many occupants of different age groups. It is here in the septic tank within the campus that the corpse of the victim was disposed of.

The accused Tati earlier on May 1 had raped a 12-year-old minor girl who on the basis of good family terms was allowed by her mother to stay in the house of the accused as she was feeling sleepy watching a bihu programme at night.

The innocent girl who fell victim of the develish lust of the monster was later murdered and disposed of in a septic tank.

“The case registered with Margherita Police Station case no 113/2024 u/s 201,302,376 and POSCO Act would be tried at the fast track court after submitting the charge sheet within a month time,” assured the SDPO Margherita.
