Marigaon District Social Welfare Dept. celebrates Matri-Sisu Kalyan Diwas

Marigaon: The POSHAN Abhiyaan, PM’s overarching scheme for holistic nourishment, has targeted to free the country from malnutrition and animea by 2022. With an aim at fulfilling its target, Marigaon District Social Welfare department, in association with the district cell of POSHAN Abhiyaan, supported by Kapili’s ICDS, organized a community-based event Matri-Sisu Kalyan diwas at Charaibahi, Marigaon on Friday. The day long Sisu-Matri Kalyan diwas celebration began with a cultural programme performed by the children of the locality. Thereafter, a felecitation programme was held where invited guest were felicitated by the supervisor and the anganwadi workers. The children performed Tiwa, Bihu and Bodo dances with traditional dresses in the programme. Speaking on the occasion, DO of Social welfare Debajit Bora asked supervisors, anganwadi workers and POSHAN Abhiyaan team to work in full swing in order to free the country from malnutrition and anemia so that the country could get healthy children for its development. On the other hand, the supervisors and anganwadi workers organized anna-prasanna for the newly borne babies. The district lead SBP, POSHAN Hidayana Dutta, District Coordinator Runjun Devi, POSHAN Abhiyaan, District Coordinator Swarnali Talukdar, PMMVY fed rice to the babies. The Social Welfare depeartment has been celebrating the ORS distribution and breastfeeding weeks at anganwadi centers in the district.
